TYLER — According to a release from the City of Tyler, ZoningCheck is a web and smart phone app that allows users to type in an address to quickly identify if a location is permitted for a specific land use. The user can type in a proposed use, and then view where that use is allowed within the city. The program is accessible through smartphones, tablets and desktops/laptops using Google Chrome.

“We are excited to announce that Tyler was approved as a beta test city for
ZoningCheck,” said Planning Director Heather Nick. “The program is still in Beta testing and we welcome all comments that can enhance the product.”

“We look forward to entrepreneurs utilizing this tool to locate properties to
establish their businesses and to allow small business owners to make location-based decisions,” said Planning Director Heather Nick. “Users do not have to have zoning expertise to use the program, which is designed to be simple to use and informative.”

Currently the app features 12 cities. All but one are located within California; with Tyler, Texas being the lone exception.
