thumb_MotherFrances-signTYLER — The Trinity Mother Frances Foundation Womens Board is celebrating the first anniversary of the Pat Herd Womens Center this week. The center is named for the late Pat Herd, “a wonderfully caring and philanthropic woman, whose passing moved her family to continue her legacy,” according to a news release from Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics. Michael Herd, her grandson and the chair of the Bob L. Herd Foundation, worked with his family and Mother Frances Hospital to fulfill the campaign for a new floor focused on the special needs of women.

My grandmother was concerned about who would care for the caregivers in families when there are too ill to care for themselves. The Pat Herd Womens Center is a fitting legacy for a woman who believed in equal rights for women, strong communities, education, and access to healthcare, said Mr. Herd. The Pat Herd Womens Center is located on the grounds of Mother Frances Hospital Tyler and features 27 state-of-the-art womens health and recovery suites, according to the release.

We have been incredibly pleased with the Pat Herd Womens Center over the past year and how it has made a positive impact on the more than 230 women who have received care here after giving birth, said Felicia Adams, Divisional Director, Womens and Childrens Services, Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics. This center is important in our journey to provide the best possible care for women and babies, ensuring they receive that care in a warm, home-like environment. We have received nothing but positive comments from patients during this first year, and our success has been built on patient satisfaction scores that have increased to the 90th percentile.
