TxDOT Project Updates

TYLER — Here’s a quick look at events and work planned in the Tyler District of the state highway department.

SMITH COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews in Smith County will continue edge repair work on Farm Road 14 between Tyler State Park and Farm Road 16 this week. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists should be prepared to reduce speeds and merge in and around work zones.

GREGG COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews this week will continue to conduct routine work including cleaning ditches and replacing culverts on Farm Road 2906 in Easton. The roadway will be reduced to one lane with flaggers so slow down and be prepared to stop when directed to do so.

The Longview Area Office has several construction projects planned for the week.
*Work on the Loop 281 railroad overpass construction continues between State Highway 31 South to Ray Street in Longview and includes placing new signs and striping on new detour pavement, and conducting embankment work. Motorists should expect delays due to lane closures and work convoys at the beginning of the week as the contractor prepares to switch traffic to the new pavement.
*State Highway 42 widening construction from I-20 S to SH 31 in Kilgore will continue with placing concrete curb and gutter and driveways. Drivers should use caution as daily traffic control will include narrow lanes in this ongoing work.
*Construction of the bridge continues on Spinks Chapman Road southwest of the Interstate Highway 20 and State Highway 31 interchange near Kilgore. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes to reach their destinations due to the closure of Spinks Chapman Road at the bridge.

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews will again be working on the overlay and widening project on Farm Road 747 north of U.S. Highway 79 west of Jacksonville area next week. Daytime lane closures will be in effect during this operation. Slow down for flaggers and other traffic control devices in place in the work zone.

RUSK COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews in Henderson this week will continue to perform edge of road maintenance on Farm Road 840 between Farm Road 2867 and State Highway 315. Daytime lane closures are likely during this work.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be conducting necessary maintenance work at various locations around Van Zandt County. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones.

The Mineola Area Office bridge replacement project is ongoing on County Road 2405 at Wet Lacy Fork, and on County Road 2504 at Dry Lacy Fork where the existing bridge is being removed. Both roadways are currently closed. Elsewhere, culvert work continues on Farm Road 317 from Farm Road 607 to Farm Road 314. Be prepared for lane closures on this job.

WOOD COUNTY – Work continues on the US 69 widening project in Mineola this week with the application of a new special surface from SL 564 in Mineola to Farm Road 779 in Golden. Seeding and general cleanup will be conducted on State Highway 154 from Lake Fork to Quitman. Day time lane closures will remain the norm as the job progresses. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones.
