Cherokee County Authorities Seek Leads on Several Burglaries

thumb_police-lights-2RUSK — Authorities in Cherokee County are requesting the public’s help in solving several recent burglaries. On Wednesday, July 23, a burglary was reported on CR 3708 near Bullard. The property owner returned home Wednesday afternoon to discover the door to his shop open. Upon checking the shop he discovered several thousand dollars of equipment and tools missing. He stated that the burglary would have occurred sometime between 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.

After taking an inventory of his equipment and tools, among the items he reported
stolen included:
• Honda EU3000, 3000 watt generator
• Generac Power Systems, 3100 psi, pressure washer
• (7) John Deere brand socket wrenches and adjustable socket sets
• (3) Craftsman brand mechanic tool sets
• (3) Mayhew brand roll punch sets
• (9) Matco brand power tools including:
Long barrel power hammer; 1 HP die grinder; 3/8 flex head torque wrench; 30 pc & 26 pc 1/2 drive impact socket sets; slide hammer kit; laser level
• Stihl brand M9Z90 Chainsaw and FS100 Trimmer
• Dewalt brand 7″ angle grinder & 1/2 drill
Total estimated loss was over $11,000.

On Friday, August 1, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a house and deer lease at the corner of FM 241 and CR 2501 near Alto was reported broken into. The property owners arrived at the deer lease to begin preparations for the upcoming season and discovered the front door open. Upon inspection the following items were discovered stolen:
• Winchester 30-30 rifle, with scope
• Remington 30-06 rifle
• Remington 870 BrushMaster 12ga shotgun, cracked stock and camo tape where the barrel meets the receiver.
• Hoyt compound bow
• PSE (Precision Shooting Equipment) compound bow
• High Country compound bow
• Sony brand 21″ flat screen TV
• Sony brand DVD player
Total estimated loss at this time is unknown.

On Monday, August 11, a home in the 500 block of CR 3211, southwest of Jacksonville, was in the process of being remodeled. The owners had last been at the house on Friday, August 8, around noon. Upon their return to the home on Monday, August 11th, they discovered the back door kicked in and their property rummaged through. The items discovered stolen from the home were a Samsung 50″ flat screen TV and a BOSE home theater system. The estimated value of the loss is $2,000.
