DanielBursonMug.1409084601TYLER — A joint investigation between the Tyler Police Department and the FBI has led to the arrest of a corporate security consultant-investigator for Capital One Bank in the robbery that occurred at a Capital One Bank in Tyler August 11. The suspect is identified as Daniel River Burson, 37, of McKinney. Burson was arraigned in federal court Tuesday in Tyler and will have a detention hearing on Aug. 29. If convicted, Burson faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

On August 11 at 7:52 a.m. Tyler police received a 911 call of a robbery from an employee of the Capital One Bank at Copeland and Loop 323. The bank employee stated that she and another female employee were walking back towards the drive-thru building door when they were approached by a man telling them to drop the black night deposit bag. The suspect then grabbed the bag and fled in a dark Mercedes Benz 4-door with no license plates. The suspect was wearing a suit and a nylon stocking over his head.

The robbery was one of four committed in East Texas that week. Besides the Capitol One heist, suspects have been arrested in only one of the incidents. Bonds of $100,000 have been set for all three suspects in the August 11 robbery of the Austin Bank at the Bar K Ranch Store, 5653 Highway 259 North in Gregg County.
