Felon Arrested after Evading Longview Officers
Posted/updated on: September 12, 2014 at 2:53 amGREGG COUNTY — A Longview man who police say ran from an officer trying to detain him was held Wednesday on multiple charges including evading arrest with a vehicle. According to the Longview News-Journal, Eric O’Brien Adams, 25, is being held in Gregg County Jail on bonds totaling $19,000 after he was arrested by Longview police on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, theft of a firearm and evading arrest with a vehicle. Police reportedly noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Ledger and Wagster Streets around 1:45 Wednesday morning. When police approached the car, Adams fled the scene in the vehicle.
After a short car chase, Adams took off on foot before being apprehended by officers. A stolen handgun was found in the front center console of the vehicle. Officers found that Adams was a convicted felon for an aggravated robbery offense in May 2009 and also has outstanding warrants on charges of criminal mischief and two charges of contempt of court, disobedience of court order.
