DocumentFragment_4626109GREGG COUNTY — A Big Sandy man has been arrested after sheriffs deputies say he burglarized an abandoned home belonging to a District Attorney. According to the Longview News-Journal, Daniel Leonard Souza, 30, is being held on bonds totaling $7,500. He’s charged with burglary of a building and possession of a controlled substance. Souza was arrested Wednesday morning after a Gregg County sheriffs deputy responded to a suspicious vehicle call at a home in the 100 block of Dorrough Road in Gladewater, which belongs to D.A. Carl Dorrough.

Souza was found outside of a storage building on the property. He told the officer he owned the car on the property and was cleaning it for a friend. Officials said Souza had several items in his car that he admitted were from the home but he was not able to provide the name of the homeowner. The deputy also found a bag reportedly containing methamphetamine in Souzas wallet.
