Truck and Train Collide in Jacksonville
Posted/updated on: September 22, 2014 at 2:24 amJACKSONVILLE — A Union Pacific freight train traveling northeast through the city of Jacksonville struck a late-model pick up truck at the Myrtle Drive railroad crossing at 11:57 Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Daily Progress. Occupants of the truck were able to get out before the collision. The truck was partially lodged underneath a rail car that is used to transport new automobiles. The accident took place near the Texas Basket Factory.
Numerous Jacksonville Police, Fire and EMS units responded to the scene, along with Texas Department of Public Safety officers. All railroad crossings from Austin Street through the east end of Jacksonville were blocked and motorist were advised find alternative routes. No word on any injuries.
