Wreck Near Hawkins Kills One

HAWKINS� A two vehicle accident in Wood County has left one person dead and two injured. The head on collision around 6:30 Saturday morning occurred on Farm Road 14 near Hawkins. Killed was Christopher Benson, 48, of Hawkins. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle, Mark Thomas Jr., 22, of Tyler, and Jerry Summerville, 31, of Winona, are hospitalized in stable condition. According to the Department of Public Safety, Benson was south bound when his car crossed over to the north bound lane and hit the other vehicle.
