Student Arrested after Allegedly Making Online Threats

Christopher JonesLONGVIEW Longview police say a Pine Tree High School senior has been arrested for making terroristic threats online. Released on a $10,000 bond was Christopher Jones, 17. The arrest report says the FBI contacted Longview police early Monday morning with information that the student had made threats to carry out a violent act at the high school. Longview Police, working together with the FBI, were able to locate the Jones, who allegedly made the threats prior to his arrival at the school. The suspect was taken into custody for the felony 3 offense of terroristic threat and was booked into the Gregg County Jail without further incident.

The Longview News Journal reports Jones made a threat planning a shooting at Pine Tree High School. The paper reported that the information was received from a third party in California. He allegedly made the comments in an online chat room. The threats “included comments about having a plan to enter a cafeteria at a school where he would lock all of the doors allowing no escape, and referred to that future moment as the greatest shooting ever.'”
