According to KETK, the Smith County Fire Marshal’s Office reports firefighters sprayed a foam over the flames and were able to extinguish the fire a second time. The tanks exploded and the fire began around 8:00 Thursday night, causing the area around the fire to be evacuated. The tanks are located at an oilfield near the intersection of Farm Road 2607 and County Road 223. There have been no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is believed it may have started from a lightning strike.
