Tyler Officer Slightly Injured in Wreck

TYLER � A Tyler police officer has been slightly injured in an accident on Loop 323 and old Bullard Road. It happened around 8:30 Thursday night. According to Sgt. Matt Leigeber, the officer was in his patrol car, traveling east in the inside lane on the loop, when a westbound car turned south, directly into his path. Both vehicle sustained extensive damage. The officer, who was not identified in the police department news release, sustained minor but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to East Texas Medical Center. The other driver, who was not injured, was issued a citation for fail to yield right of way while making a left turn.
