thumb_TISD_Logo_NewTYLER – Tyler ISD administrators are meeting with parents from Douglas, Griffin, Orr, and Peete elementary schools this week to discuss the upcoming redesign process mandated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). “We value the input from our parents as we begin this process,” Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford said. “Parental feedback is essential to preparing students for success. Therefore, we encourage parents to participate so that we can work together to improve our schools and provide the best education possible for our students.”

According to a TISD news release, the state redesign process addresses multiple components, and each campus will create a plan of action that will involve evaluations in the key areas of structure, programming, and staffing. Campuses will present their plan of action to the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees in November, allowing the Board to analyze and set a course for a comprehensive plan for the future, according to the release.

Meetings were held with parents of Orr and Douglas Elementary Schools yesterday. Today, the meeting is from 5:30 to 6:30pm with parents at Douglas Elementary. And tomorrow from 5:30 till 6:30pm, the meeting is with parents of Griffin Elementary.

Douglas, Griffin, Orr, and Peete each received an Improvement Required rating for the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 school years. The meetings will give parents an opportunity to provide input to District administrators on what they want to see at their campus at the completion of the process.
