Posted/updated on: October 30, 2014 at 1:55 pmWINONA — The city of Winona’s water is officially safe to drink without boiling. According to the city’s Facebook page, On October 27, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (T.C.E.Q.) required Winona to issue a Boil Water Notice (B.W.N) to inform customers that due an interruption in service, water from the city system needed to be boiled prior to consumption. The Facebook page says the system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided T.C.E.Q. with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling.
