Woman Sentenced For Kilgore Murder

LONGVIEW � A Kilgore woman has pleaded guilty to a Gregg County murder in 2011. Samantha Gonzales Lara pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to the shooting death of Renee Garrett. She was killed in January 2011 in the robbery of the Kilgore Adult Video Store on Industrial Avenue. KETK reports Lara has been sentenced to 50 years in prison by 124th District Court of Judge Alfonso Charles. Lara was arrested in February 2012, one day after a Gregg County grand jury returned a two-count indictment for felony murder and aggravated robbery. At the time of her arrest, investigators said she was not the only suspect in the case. DNA evidence taken from the scene confirmed the identity of one of three suspects in the robbery and homicide.
