Tyler Burglary Suspects Arrested

Joseph WilsonTYLER – Two men are in custody in connection with several Tyler burglaries. It began shortly after 4:15 Sunday afternoon with a call of a burglary in progress in the 1400 block of South Chilton. A witness saw someone trying to break into a home and chased the suspect toward Bergfeld Park. Officers found the suspect hiding in the public restrooms. After a brief struggle the suspect, identified as Joseph Wilson, 19, of Tyler, was taken into custody.

Tevin McGeeWhile driving back to the 100 block of South Chilton, officers noticed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in another burglary in the same area. It was parked around the corner from the house on South Chilton. Found hiding in the vehicle was Tevin McGee, 20, of Tyler. Found inside the vehicle were items that had earlier been taken in a burglary on the 700 block of S Bois D’Arc.

Wilson and McGee were determined to be linked to several burglaries in the area. officers were able to obtain enough evidence to charge the two with an attempted Burglary of a Habitation on the 1400 block of S Chilton, a Burglary of a Habitation on the 1400 block of S Robertson, and a Burglary of a Building on the 700 block of S Bois D’Arc. In addition, Wilson was charged with resisting arrest. Numerous stolen items were recovered and returned to the victims.

Officers also developed enough information to link both suspects to numerous other burglaries in the Azalea District. The additional cases will be investigated by detectives from the Tyler Police Department Property Crimes Unit.
