GarrettPlumleeFB.1415641167PLANO — A Spring Hill athlete continues his road to recovery after suffering a brain hemorrhage almost a week ago. KETK reports Garrett Plumlee took a hit in the third quarter of his final game and suffered a concussion. Once he was rushed to the hospital, doctors discovered the senior quarterback had experienced a brain hemorrhage. He was then flown to a Plano hospital. Plumlee eventually woke up and became coherent on Sunday; his brain bleed had stopped. The student has since been moved out of ICU and into a primary care unit.

Gregg County Precinct 1 Constable James Plumlee says his son was able to sit up in bed on Wednesday and move around with a walker. However, he is still suffering from paralysis on the right side of his body, head pain, and swelling. Athletic Director Mark Sartain said Plumlee is awake more and talking more since his athletic trainer’s last visit. Teammates have visited their quarterback and are encouraged by his progress, Sartain stated. The athlete was considering playing college football prior to his injury.

Anyone wishing to help the family during its stay in Dallas by way of gift cards and other items can bring donations to the school athletic department office. Sartain said they will be delivering the items Friday at noon, but more opportunities will be available.
