ETMC Tyler been recognized as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, according to an ETMC news release. ETMC Tyler was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety.” Hospital officials say that recognition came for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. ETMC Tyler is one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer distinction.

“We understand what matters most to patients at ETMC Tyler is the quality and safety of the care they receive. That is why we have made it a top priority to improve positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes,” said Bob Evans, administrator/CEO of ETMC Tyler. “We are proud to be named a Top Performer as it recognizes the knowledge, teamwork and dedication of our entire hospital staff.”

Also, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons has given the ETMC Cardiovascular Institute its highest rating, three out of three stars, for outstanding results for patients of coronary artery bypass surgery from 2013. “Only 12 to 15 percent of cardiovascular programs in the nation are awarded three stars and we are so pleased to be in this elite group,” said Dianne Adelfio, vice president of operations. “This program, unlike other “quality rating” programs,” requires no fee for allowing the public to know the findings of the study.
