Old School Destroyed in Sunday Blaze
Posted/updated on: November 24, 2014 at 1:12 pmWINONA — Multiple Smith County fire crews responded to then scene of a massive structure fire in Winona. The fire sparked at a former elementary school in the 600 block of Dallas Street. According to KETK, a man who was living near the building smelled smoke early Sunday morning. It’s not known what sparked the blaze. The building was reportedly destroyed. One firefighter was injured while battling the fire. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries. Crews from Winona, Hawkins, Jackson Heights, and Dixie Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
