Tyler Leader C.C. Baker Dies

C-C-Pinky-Baker-1417192804TYLER Tyler civic leader C.C. Baker has died. Baker, who was 74, died Friday at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 3:30pm at Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler. Burial will follow at Tylers Rose Hill Cemetery. Baker, a former principal of John Tyler High School, was also a development officer for Tyler Junior College.

According to the Stewart Family Funeral home obituary, Baker had twenty-five years experience in education as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. He then served as Vice President of Development and Foundation Executive Director at Tyler Junior College where he revitalized the dormant foundation to national recognition. He continued in development work serving as Vice President of Development and Foundation Executive Director for the Trinity Mother Frances Health System. For more than three decades he was a very active volunteer consultant for many non-profit organizations. After his retirement, he continued his volunteer service as a fundraiser and consultant for more than thirty local and regional organizations and groups. His son, Joel Baker, currently serves as Smith County Judge.
