According to the Longview News-Journal, Franciosa Lakeefe Jackson died from two gunshots to the head with perforation of the skull and brain, according to a preliminary autopsy report released by Gregg County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace James Mathis office. Toxicology results are pending.

Jackson, 36, was found dead in the yard of his house in the 300 block of Rogers Street in Kilgore on Sunday night. Police said that he had been shot at least once with an unknown firearm. A witness told them he saw a man leaving the house on foot. After a search of the area, officers were unable to find the suspect.

Police have said the suspect came to Jacksons house and asked for him by name. Jackson and the suspect talked in the front yard before family members in the house heard gunfire and found Jackson dead in the yard, police said.

Jacksons younger sister, Reshunda Ross of Kilgore, said her mother found Jackson lying in the front yard after he had gone outside to speak with an acquaintance. Ross said their mother heard gunshots just a few moments after Jackson stepped outside.

Ross said her brother and the man were acquaintances but not friends.
