LONGVIEW — Judges, Justices of the Peace, and other elected Gregg County officials take the oath Thursday to uphold the law and serve the community. According to KETK, Judge Alfonso Charles commended Judge Bill Stoudt, commissioners, and the public, for Gregg County’s unique accomplishment of having no public debt. In addition, Tim Bryan was sworn in as the new Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, replacing Arthur Fort who is now retired.

After putting on his robe for the first time, said he already had a full docket and was ready to get to work. Bryan replaces Fort who served as Justice of the Peace for nearly 18 years. History was made when, among those who took the oath, the Chairmen of both the Republican and Democratic parties were sworn in simultaneously. Tim Vaughn is the Republican Chairman and Jim Cogar is the Chairman of the Democratic party.
Judge Bill Stoudt said, “We are all Americans, and we all operate under the same constitution. We are able to sit here in the same room and take our oath of office.”
