Man in Custody after Firing at Deputies
Posted/updated on: January 5, 2015 at 2:14 amRUSK COUNTY — A Rusk County man is behind bars after sheriff’s deputies say he opened fire on them. The shooting happened Thursday night around 9:45. According to KETK, Robert Scott Hurst, 28, reportedly opened fire on an officer who was making a welfare check at his residence on County Road 472. Back-up was called in and officials were able to eventually talk Hurst out of the house. He was arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported. A motive is still not clear. One patrol car was hit by two bullets. Hurst was charged with a first degree felony, punishable by up to 99 years. His bond was set at $2,000,000.
