treysandsALPINE — The case of a murdered 28-year-old Kilgore man is expected to be presented to a Brewster County grand jury within the next month. According to KETK, the Brewster County District Attorney’s Office is still awaiting a return on Trey Sands’s autopsy and toxicology report. Meanwhile, all three suspects remain jailed on $200,000 bond: Keith McWilliams, 49, of Alpine; Rhonda Bloom, 42, of Terlingua; and Charles Morrow, 30, of Benbrook.

The trio was first charged with second-degree murder, but officials upgraded the offense to first-degree murder, according to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities stated Sands was shot to death on Halloween. McWilliams was a coworker of Sands and led officials to his body, according to authorities. Sheriff Ronny Dodson says the body was found underneath a pile of rocks around 1:00 a.m. Friday, December 5.
