thumb_cityoftylerTYLER — The City of Tyler Fire Department and Emergency Management officials continue to monitor the weather conditions in our area.
Emergency service capabilities are at full strength and City departments are in frequent communication with each other to ensure that all necessary preparations are in place, according to officials. Additionally, officials are in communication with the local school district, County and State Emergency Management offices, and local EMS. Emergency Management officials continue to monitor the situation and will respond as appropriate, according to a news release.

Officials continue to urge drivers to remain off the roadways unless necessary. The Tyler Police Department is asking drivers to use caution while operating their vehicles. Drivers are asked to reduce their speed when crossing bridges or traveling on outlining roadways due to the buildup of a slushy mixture in some areas. Additionally, fire officials remind citizens to exercise caution when using fireplaces and space heaters. Smoke alarms should be located in all sleeping areas and should be checked regularly.
