christian2HARRISON COUNTY Law enforcement agencies in Harrison County worked together to arrest a man who allegedly led authorities on a dangerous chase through East Texas. According to KETK, the pursuit began on Interstate Highway 20 in Hallsville and ended on Woodall Street in Marshall around 6:00 Saturday evening. The driver has been identified as Anthony Christian, of Longview, who is suspected of being involved in a hit and run in Gregg County. Officials say he was followed by a civilian until a Hallsville police officer found him on I-20 near the exit for Farm Road 450. Christian refused to pull over and was pursued eastbound by Hallsville police, the Harrison County Sheriffs Office (HCSO), and the Department of Public Safety.

Christian exited I-20 at State Highway 43 where he briefly came to a stop, according to law enforcement. A Marshall police patrol supervisor and a Harrison County sheriffs deputy approached the vehicle instructing Christian to exit his vehicle. Christian did not cooperate and accelerated at the MPD supervisor, hitting him with the vehicle he was driving, according to a law enforcement report. The officer was not injured.

Christian allegedly continued north on SH 43 reaching speeds of 100 mph as he entered the city limits of Marshall. Officers worked to block crossing intersections as the pursuit approached in order to protect the public from the pursuit. An MPD officer near MLK and Pinecrest deployed a spike strip that successfully punctured the passenger tires on Christians vehicle. Christian reportedly continued northeast on Pinecrest and then south on South Washington at high rates of speed despite his vehicle being partially disabled. He then turned east onto Woodall Street where he pulled into a driveway in the 100 block of Woodall.

Christian was taken into custody and transported to Good Shepherd Marshall by Marshall Fire Department EMS to be medically cleared for jail. HCSO then transported him to the Harrison County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle. Additional charges were pending.
