Tyler Police Issue Traffic Advisory Ahead of This Morning’s Race

police-tyler-carTYLER — Tyler Police are letting drivers know of marathon preparations, including traffic delays and reroutes due to the 15k marathon planned for this morning. It will be starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending around 10:00 a.m. The races will have approximately 3000 runners on specific courses throughout Southwest Tyler.

The outer borders of the course are as follows:

North side – Rice Rd.

East side – S. Broadway

South side – Mahar Rd.

West side – Old Jacksonville Hwy.

Tyler Police officers will be assisting with traffic control at major intersections and highly traveled streets where runners are designated to run in coned off traffic lanes during the race. Officials encourage those who do not want to be inconvenienced yielding to runners to take an alternate route to avoid the areas altogether. Officers will be giving the runners the right-of-way, but will allow traffic to flow when possible so as not to interfere with runners and their times. All motorists that may be stopped tare asked to be patient and courteous to participants and officers.
