Legislation Proposes to Modify Sunday Blue Laws in Texas
Posted/updated on: March 17, 2015 at 2:45 amAUSTIN — A couple of state lawmakers believe a Texas blue law regarding liquor needs to be tossed out the window. Republican Senator Kevin Eltife of Tyler has introduced a bill that would allow people to continue to shop in liquor stores past the current closing time of 9:00pm. He believes the measure would give shoppers reasonable time to finish their purchases, especially on Saturday nights. A Dallas Democratic representative has introduced a bill that lets Texans begin shopping for booze earlier on Saturday so they can buy what they need to cover them through Sunday. Liquor stores could open at 9:00am instead of 10:00.
