Honors for a Fallen Smith County Fireman

AUSTIN – A Jackson Heights volunteer firefighter, fatally injured on his way to an accident, has received special recognition. KETK reports Jalen Smith, 19, was added to the Texas Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Austin. On November 30, 2012, Smith and two other firefighters were responding to an accident when they were involved in an accident on Farm Road 2767. Smith died a few days later at East Texas Medical Center. He is the first Jackson heights firefighter to die in the line of duty.
