Robert Gentry plane crashGORDONVILLE (AP/STAFF) — Two people remain hospitalized after a small plane flying out of Tyler crashed into a North Texas home, leaving four people injured. According to KETK, those on board at the time of the crash were Robert Gentry, 61, of Tyler; 51-year-old Karen Christian; Gentry’s daughter, Annie, 14; and Colin Howell, 17. The plane, which was registered to Robert Gentry, left from Tyler Pounds Regional Airport just before 12:30 Sunday afternoon, en route to the Gordonville, Texas, airport.

Friends and family say Gentry was taken into surgery and last listed in fair condition in ICU. The other passengers who were on board are expected to make full recoveries, according to members of Gentry’s family and friends. All were taken to Texoma Medical Center, though Christian was later flown to Plano, where she was last listed in fair and stable condition. The other passengers were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford says a Beechcraft B35 aircraft smashed the house’s roof Sunday afternoon, and then landed in the yard of a home in Gordonville, about 85 miles north of Dallas. Trooper Mark Tackett of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the engine and propeller came off the plane, which struck an unoccupied home before the plane landed in a backyard. No bystanders were injured.

According to LinkedIn, Gentry works as a producer, musician, and arranger. He has performed with and/or played on recordings featuring some of the top artists and songwriters in the industry such as LeAnn Rimes, The Dixie Chicks, Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Stevie Nicks, Michael Bolton, B.W. Stevenson, Delbert McClinton, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Diane Warren, Kacey Musgraves, and many others.
