Funeral Held for Troup Mayor Bill Lacy

TroupPDSalute_1431460209526_312307_ver1.0TROUP — The city of Troup laid Mayor Bill Lacy to rest Tuesday morning. KETK reports his funeral took place at First Baptist Church in Troup. Lacy is survived by his wife, Aida; daughters, Kathryn and Tiffany; his parents, Jerry and Dorothy; and his Uncle David and David’s wife. Lacy is described by townspeople as an enthusiastic Christian servant in his faith, to his family, to his work and to the Troup community. They say his friendly smile and his love for Troup and its people will be greatly missed.

Lacy suffered a massive heart attack last Wednesday and died Thursday night. In 2014, Lacy became the city’s first new mayor since 2002 after he defeated long-time city leader John Whitsell. In 2005, Lacy to was hired to manage the Troup branch of Kilgore National Bank and serve as assistant vice president. Councilwoman Carole Wilson will serve as Mayor Pro Tem.
