Liberty City Crash Probed as Homicide

LIBERTY CITY — The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash from Wednesday night as homicide. According to Lt. Kirk Haddix, deputies found John Allen Franco, 24, had died from a gunshot wound to the head while they were investigating a wreck near the Smallwood neighborhood in Liberty City. The accident took place a little after 10:00 p.m. on Old Highway 135. Multiple people were said to be in the vehicle involved. It has not been disclosed how many automobiles were involved.
