Leland Thomas Carver, 71, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated child sexual assault. According to KETK, Carver assaulted the child while she spent time visiting him at his home in the 300 block of Montclair Street in North Longview. The child was in the second grade when the abuse started.
The child told investigators she found inappropriate videos of herself on Carver’s cell phone, according to the report, and she waited to report the assault because Carver said she would be taken away from her family and “go to a place where they send kids who are bad” if anyone found out. Carver was originally arrested on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Carver had retired from the Longview Police Department at least 10 years prior to his arrest.
