KETK and the Longview News-Journal report Daniel Basor Kadima, 31, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of walking on the wrong side of the road. A charge of murder had been added with a $1 million bond. Hauwa Esther Kadima, 61, was found by Longview police officers during a check welfare call Tuesday morning in an apartment in the 700 block of Gilmer Road. She had fractures to her skull with laceration of the brain because of blunt impact to the head, according to initial autopsy findings.

Daniel Kadima’s ex-wife wrote an affidavit Wednesday for a motion of contempt stating that Kadima violated the terms of their divorce and that police “say he is the person they believe beat his mother to death.” She also detailed Kadima’s history of mental illness and stated that he was parked in her driveway waiting for her to return home Wednesday. Jail records show Daniel Kadima had been arrested four previous times in Gregg County, largely on criminal trespass and theft of stolen property charges. The death of Hauwa Esther Kadima marks the eighth Longview homicide of 2015.
