Man Shot near Palestine, Flown to Tyler Hospital

According to KETK, Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor says a man was shot several times in his vehicle around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning. It happened at a gas station at the intersection of Highway 287 and Highway 19, north of Palestine. The victim was flown to a Tyler hospital, where he is believed to be in stable condition. The victim is described as a 30-year-old Hispanic male. He had gunshot wounds to his upper body and leg.
Officials say the suspect was able to leave the scene before law enforcement arrived. Through witness and victim testimonies, authorities were able to identify the suspect as 38-year-old Jorge Fernandez. The alleged gunman was quickly arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to authorities. A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
