Advisor Named for U-T Tyler Patriot Talon

TYLER — The next adviser of the Patriot Talon at The University of Texas at Tyler, effective September 1, will be Lorri Allen. She begins her new duties the first of next month. She follows Kevin Dilley, who accepted a position at Kent State University. As the Patriot Talon adviser, Allen will provide professional guidance, training and support to Talon editors and staff. She also will serve as a senior lecturer in journalism at the university.

Allen has more than 30 years of experience as a writer, speaker and freelance broadcaster. In addition, she is the author of Be a Newsmaker, Speak to Success and Say it Right.

She comes to UT Tyler after serving as the news director for two years at KYTX CBS 19. Prior to joining CBS 19, Allen was a radio host for Family Life Communications in Tucson and FamilyNet Television and Radio in Atlanta. She also served as a news producer/reporter, and later as news director and communications director, for PRIMEDIA Workplace Learning in Carrollton.

Allen holds a bachelor of journalism with a specialization in broadcast from UT Austin as well as a master of mass communication from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
