Local Charities Get $120,000 in Grants
Posted/updated on: August 26, 2015 at 4:32 pmTYLER ā The East Texas Communities Foundation has announced the recipients of $120,000 in grants from the Retail Merchants Association of Tyler Charitable Fund. 19 non-profits were invited to apply for funding for what were termed “strong projects based on good ideas and compelling needs which have the potential to improve the community and the lives of its people.” 16 area charities requested approximately $330,000 in funding during this grant cycle.
The following organizations and projects were selected for funding in 2015:

City of Tyler Public Library – ā500 Books Before Kindergartenā program
Discovery Science Place Exhibits and programs
East Texas Area Council Boy Scouts of America – General operating support
East Texas Crisis Center – Hire licensed professional counselor
East Texas Food Bank – Weekend BackPack Program
Habitat for Humanity – Emergency Assistance Fund to meet immediate repair needs
People Attempting to Help – Emergency prescription and rent assistance
The Salvation Army in Tyler – āEmergency Solutionsā shelter program
