smith-county-jailTYLER — Smith County is close to finalizing a settlement with the family of Jason Mosley of White Oak. Authorities say Mosley hanged himself in his jail cell in May. According to KETK, the state determined jailers were four minutes late in checking his jail cell. The Smith County DA’s Office says no lawsuit was ever filed by Mosley’s family, but the county will pay out $1.25 million once the settlement is finalized. The sheriff’s office says it plans to issue a statement later this week.
