KETK reports that according to a police statement, the new investigator is reviewing evidence and will be in Winnsboro within the next few weeks to discuss the next steps in the case. Police say they were told by the investigator that such cases are extremely time consuming and that the investigation would be a lengthy one.
Madison died April 11 after being declared brain dead. A few days earlier, emergency responders were called to a home after the small girl showed signs of abuse. She was taken to a local hospital and flown to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, where she later died. Police say there are persons of interest in the case, but no names have been released. A sibling of the deceased child, who was also living in the location where the baby was found, has been placed with her biological father, who lives in Florida. Police said there is no reason to believe someone outside the home would have harmed the child. The baby’s death was ruled a homicide in July.
