The ban, which was lifted in late August, was approved by the commissioner’s court at Monday morning’s meeting. The county reported only 0.02 inches of rain last month. The unconditional burn ban, which means no burning whatsoever, takes effect immediately. It will remain in effect in the unincorporated areas of Rusk County for a period not to exceed 90 days. It is just one of just over a dozen counties now under a burn ban, including Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Gregg, Henderson, Nacogdoches, Upshur and Wood.
