smithcounty-sealSMITH COUNTY — The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after the Bullard Baseball and Softball ballpark was reportedly burglarized and vandalized Friday night. According to KETK, a Gator utility vehicle was reported stolen. The Bullard Baseball and Softball Association has filed a report with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.

The Association released a statement:

‘We are asking all of you that are a part of or support the Bullard Baseball and Softball Association to please keep your eyes and ears open to help find out who did this and try to recover what was stolen,” the association wrote on Facebook. “We have filed a report with the Smith County Sheriff’s office and they are working on the case, but as you all know, most thieves like to brag or tell someone about what they did and it’s very possible that it was someone within our community. So please pass the word and be alert to anyone that might have knowledge of the incident.”

The association said they will not press charges if the Gator is returned in the same condition it was taken and a full confession is made by November 20.

“It truly saddens me that someone would steal from a youth organization where kids come to have fun with their friends and family and play a game they love, but unfortunately this is the world we live in today,” the association continued. “But I also know that the people in this association and the Bullard community will not let this bring us down or deter us from providing a safe place for our kids to play ball!”
