police-longviewLONGVIEW — Results from a final autopsy report have raised the final 2015 homicide tally in Longview to 15. According to KETK and the Longview News-Journal, the report shows Aaron Jacolby Morrow, 19, died as a result of blunt force injuries after falling out of a moving car in October and lists the manner of death as homicide. Morrow was attempting to leave the car from the front passenger door when another person inside the vehicle grabbed his clothing and drove forward, dragging Morrow, according to medical examiners. Morrow had deep cuts on his head, chest, abdomen and extremities, as well as skull fractures, rib fractures, fractures of the right hip joint, and other blunt force injuries.

Police responded to a hit-and-run with injuries Oct. 8 in the 800 block of Young Street. Officers were told a green, older-model Ford Crown Victoria was traveling west on Young Street. When the car turned to go north on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the driver lost control, and the vehicle struck the west side of a convenience store, damaging the building. Police said the driver of the vehicle then backed up and continued to drive north on MLK Boulevard, and Morrow tried to exit the vehicle “as it sped away.” Morrow was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center and pronounced dead about 11:45 p.m. Oct. 8. Officers later found the car involved in a crash in an empty lot nearby, and police towed it away for processing.

The 15 homicides in the city this past year is the highest total for Longview in at least a decade. Longview police continue to investigate Morrow’s death and ask anyone with information to call (903) 237-1199. Tipsters also can remain anonymous by contacting Gregg County Crimestoppers at greggcountycrimestoppers.org or (903) 236-7867.
