Police Probe Restaurant Shooting; Other Incidents May Be Linked

aontheborderTYLER — Three suspects have been taken into custody following a shooting in Tyler, and police say the three may be linked so some other cases. The shooting happened around 7:00 Monday night at On The Border restaurant at Broadway and Loop 323. Officers said a man was eating at the restaurant when he heard the alarm on his truck going off. As he went out to investigate, he was confronted by three suspects reportedly breaking into his vehicle. The suspects fired several shots while fleeing the scene. The victim was struck in the arm and taken to a local hospital.

A short time later, the suspects’ vehicle was stopped by Kilgore police and all three were taken into custody. Authorities said the victim’s property was found in their vehicle, along with several firearms. The suspects, all from Kilgore, are Amanda Ball, 25; Kallin Wilson, 18; and Juan Delgado, 18. Tyler police investigators have secured an arrest warrant for all three, and each has been charged with aggravated robbery, with bond set at $400,000 apiece. The suspects remained in Kilgore Police Department custody, due to be transported to the Smith County Jail when authorities advise. The victim who was shot in the arm is identified as Roderick Russell, 39, of Tyler. Russell was treated at East Texas Medical Center and released.

Investigators are following up on a total of six auto burglaries that occurred prior to the shooting at On the Border that they believe the suspects are connected to. The auto burglaries occurred at Broadway Square Mall, BJ’S restaurant, China King restaurant, Macy’s, and On the Border. Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges will be forthcoming.
