gavelMARSHALL — Rodney K. Beshears, 60, of Kennard, has pleaded guilty in federal court in Marshall to violating asbestos work practice standards of the Clean Air Act. Under federal statutes, he faces up to five years in federal prison. That is the maximum sentence prescribed by congress. The date for a sentencing hearing has not been set.

Beshears admitted that in October 2011, he and his employees began excavating and removing a pipeline near Diana, Texas. When it was found the pipeline had a coating of asbestos, he received training on asbestos removal practices. It was later learned that he did not follow those practices in removing a pipeline with asbestos material between Diana and Ore City. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in March, 2014.
