coleman2SMITH COUNTY — One woman has been arrested following a home burglary. According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Christie Coleman, 35, was taken into custody and charged with burglary of a habitation. Authorities said the victim called her niece Monday afternoon and told her two women were attempting to break into her home, 6570 Blanche Street in Northeast Smith County. A neighbor apparently tried to stop them and they fled the scene, one in a vehicle, the other into a wooded area on foot. Deputies arrived on scene and were unable to locate the suspects.

In the meantime, dispatch received reports that Coleman was under the porch of the residence on CR 376. After several attempts to locate her, a K9 unit was brought in and Coleman was found under the porch. She suffered minor injuries from the K9.

Coleman initially gave a fictitious name and date of birth. Deputies learned the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Coleman will be charged with burglary of a habitation, failure to ID and the felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
