thTYLER — Senator Ted Cruz’s wife made the rounds in East Texas. Heidi Cruz held an event in Nacogdoches on Saturday afternoon and ended the day with a meet and greet at UT Tyler. KETK reports, hundreds of people gathered at UT Tyler to meet the woman that might possibly be the next First Lady. Heidi Cruz said this year’s election is the most important election of our generation.

“This election is about people in this country that have been left behind, that have become angry that Washington and the elected political class has started to ignore the people, the voters,” says Cruz.

Heidi said the first thing voters need to know is that her husband will keep America safe. She also said he will focus on creating economic opportunity.

“We need to have an economy where people’s paychecks are growing, not shrinking,” she says. “We need to have an economy where people coming out of school are getting three or four job offers.”

She says she hopes Texans will stand by her husband on Super Tuesday, much like they did in his run for the senate.

“We are a party of principle that brings together many different people from around the country,” says Cruz. “To vote based on a shared group of principles, of the private sector creating jobs, of a strong national security, and strong national principles.”
