Posted/updated on: April 7, 2016 at 4:56 pmTYLER — The city of Tyler is showcasing a new facility while gathering input for the future of its parks and open space. It all starts as the Glass Recreation Center hosts a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house today from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for its brand new cardio room. The formal ribbon cutting and dedication of the new room will take place at 5:30 p.m. The new cardio room will be named in honor of Corneille Hutcherson, a city employee who worked for 19 years with the Summer Playground Program.
A public meeting will follow at 6 p.m. and will allow for the staff to update the overall Parks and Open Space Master Plan. This will be the first of several meetings to gather input from citizens about future desires and needs as they relate to Parks and Recreation facilities and programs, specifically Woldert Park and Glass Recreation Center. Officials say the public is invited to check out the new cardio room and take a tour of the facility. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the Glass Recreation Center at (903) 595-7271.
