Smith County Man Arrested for January Chase

WHITEHOUSE – A man wanted by Whitehouse police since January has been taken into custody. Bryan Scott Mayfield, Jr., 26, of Winona, was arrested around 1:00 Monday afternoon. He was taken into custody with the a assistance of the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Task Force. Officers say Mayfield led them on a chase from Whitehouse to to Santa Elena Drive and Loop 323 in Tyler. During the chase his car hit a utility pole and an parked vehicle. The chase ended when his car hit a Tyler house. He then fled the scene on foot. Mayfield has been charged with evading arrest and striking an unattended vehicle.
