bulky item collectionTYLER — Tyler’s free bulky item collection week started Monday. To help you with your spring cleaning, the Tyler Solid Waste Department will be picking up those large items that usually cost an additional fee. Shirlene Black, Customer Service Supervisor with the city’s Solid Waste Department, says you can put out such items as furniture, appliances, carpet, fence material and up to four non-commercial vehicle tires. Things that will not be picked up include liquid waste, limbs or brush. And paint must be dried out with oil or kitty litter.

Black says there is no need to call the Solid Waste Office when you put the items on the curb. The items will be picked up, and it may be on a day that is different from the regular garbage collection day.

For Tyler residents who can’t participate this week, many bulky items will be accepted during regular business hours at the City of Tyler Recycling Center if you present an original water bill not more than 45 days from the bill date with a current ID.
