Former Athens Athlete Charged with Murder
Posted/updated on: May 8, 2016 at 4:38 amFORT WORTH — former Trinity Valley Communty College running back, Tavarreon Dickerson, 22, has been arrested on a murder charge. He was arrested by Tarrant County authorities on a felony warrant out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is accused of the death of his 6 week old daughter. She was found unresponsive in early January at Dickerson’s home in Tulsa. The Tulsa World newspaper says he told investigators his daughter was fussy and couldn’t sleep, so he took her to the coach and she slept besides him. However the autopsy showed the infant died from impact trauma.
In 2011, Dickerson finished his high school football career in Arlington an all-time rushing leader with 4,400 yards and was the school’s record-holder for rushing touchdowns with 53 touchdowns. He was an Associated Press second-team All State in 2011 as a senior running back with 1,862 yards and 25 rushing touchdowns.
In college, he played one season, 2013, at Trinity Valley. In 2014, because of injuries, he was limited to only eight games at the University of Tulsa.
He is being held in the Tarrant County Jail without bond.
